Fire Station Name Issue
The town received notification from a resident that we were using “Litchfield Fire Rescue”; that is a registered business name with the Secretary of State. This notification was delivered to the Town Administrator, Police Department, and the new construction general contractor. Additionally, he indicated that the town should be prepared to remove the name from the new fire station; and is also on the existing fire station.

Litchfield Firefighters Association Scholarship
The Litchfield Firefighters Association will sponsor an annual $500 Vocational Scholarship for anyone
who has been a resident of the Town of Litchfield for more than One (1) year and is seeking a post
secondary (2 or 4 year collage) education in the field of Public Safety. The scholarship is primarily
intended for those seeking Fire and EMS educations but is open for Police and any other fields that the
Association may deem to be “Public Safety” related.

The Predicted FIRE DANGER for today
The predicted fire danger for today is a Statewide Class 4.
Today will be mostly clear to clear skies with temperatures in the upper 50s to upper 60s.
Minimum relative humidity values will be between 28 and 34 percent .

THE RECENT DRY WEATHER PATTERN HAS CREATED UNSAFE BURNING
CONDITIONS CAUSING THE PRIMARY FUELS FOR WILDLAND FIRES OF DEAD
GRASS…LEAVES AND BRUSH TO BECOME DANGEROUSLY DRY AND SUSCEPTIBLE
TO IGNITION. NORTHEAST WIND GUSTS OF 15 TO 20 MPH ARE EXPECTED TO
DEVELOP LATER THIS MORNING AND AFTERNOON WITH MINIMUM AFTERNOON
RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES DROPPING TO BETWEEN 30 AND 40 PERCENT
INLAND FROM THE COAST.
NEW HAMPSHIRE DEPARTMENT OF FORESTS…PARKS AND RECREATION URGE
PEOPLE TO BE AWARE OF THIS DANGER AND TAKE STEPS TO PREVENT
WILDLAND FIRES FROM STARTING IN THE FIRST PLACE. THE MAJORITY OF
WILDLAND FIRES ARE A RESULT OF ESCAPED FIRES FROM OPEN BURNING BY
HOMEOWNERS. ALL OPEN BURNING MUST HAVE A PERMIT.
Any and all outside burning is not allowed until further notice. We will re-evaluate conditions for burning after receiving the latest fire weather forecast each day.

Yearly state fire permit for small size fires in approved burning devices.
No need to sign up, just show up the night of the class, runs approximately 45 minutes.
